of <h1>Registrar's Authority Under Section 234: Demand Info, Fines for Non-Compliance, Report Unsatisfactory Affairs to Government</h1> Section 234 of the Companies Act, 1956, empowers the Registrar to request additional information or explanations from a company regarding documents submitted under the Act. If the company or its officers fail to comply, they may face fines. The Registrar can also demand the production of relevant books and papers. Non-compliance may lead to court orders for document production. If the Registrar finds the company's affairs unsatisfactory, a report is submitted to the Central Government. These provisions also apply to liquidators and foreign companies. The Registrar may disclose informants' identities if complaints are deemed frivolous.
