of <h1>Section 275 limits individuals to directorships in 15 companies; updated from 20 by Companies (Amendment) Act, 2000.</h1> Under the Companies Act, 1956, specifically Section 275, an individual is restricted from serving as a director in more than fifteen companies simultaneously. This limitation was revised from a previous cap of twenty companies by the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2000, effective from December 13, 2000. Exceptions to this rule are outlined in Section 276.
