<h1>Registrar Can Remove Company Name Suo-Motu Under Section 248(1) with Exceptions for Certain Categories</h1> The Registrar of Companies can remove a company's name from the register on a suo-motu basis under section 248(1) of the Act, except for certain categories. Exempted companies include listed companies, delisted companies due to non-compliance, vanishing companies, those under inspection or investigation, those with pending prosecutions, or those with unresolved public deposits or charges. Companies with pending applications for compounding offenses or registered under specific sections are also exempt. The Registrar must notify directors in writing, providing reasons for removal and allowing 30 days for representations against the proposed action.
