of <h1>Foreign Companies Must Pay Rs. 5,000 Registration Fee; Delayed Filings Face Increased Penalties Under Section 601 of Companies Act</h1> Section 601 of the Companies Act, 1956, mandates that foreign companies pay a prescribed fee to the Registrar for registering required documents. As of May 7, 2002, this fee is set at Rs. 5,000. For delayed filings, additional fees are imposed based on the duration of the delay: up to one month incurs a one-time fee, up to three months incurs double, up to six months quadruple, up to one year six times, up to two years eight times, and over two years nine times the normal fee. These revised fees apply from May 15, 2002.
