Government Companies Must Submit Annual Reports to Parliament: Section 619A of Companies Act 1956
Section 619A of the Companies Act, 1956 mandates that if the Central Government is a member of a Government company, it must prepare an annual report on the company's operations within three months of its annual general meeting. This report, along with the audit report and any comments by the Comptroller and Auditor-General of India, must be presented to both Houses of Parliament. If a State Government is also a member, the report must be presented to the State Legislature. The same requirements apply to State Governments if the Central Government is not a member. These provisions also apply to Government companies in liquidation.
