<h1>Directors must obtain a Director Identification Number (DIN) under Sections 266A to 266G of the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2006.</h1> Every individual intending to be appointed as a director of a company, or those already appointed before the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2006, must apply for a Director Identification Number (DIN) from the Central Government. This application should be submitted in the prescribed form and manner, including electronically, along with the required fee. Directors appointed before the Act's commencement must apply within sixty days of the Act's effective date. Applicants can serve as directors until their DIN is allotted. Sections 266A to 266G were introduced by the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2006, effective from November 1, 2006.
