          <h1>Demand for poll: qualifying members can require a poll; chairman may also order one before declaring a show of hands.</h1> Section 179 permits the chairman to order a poll before or on declaration of a show-of-hands result and requires him to order a poll when demanded by specified members. Demand eligibility varies by company type: public companies by members holding specified voting power or paid-up share value, private companies by one or two members depending on attendance, and other companies by members holding a specified fraction of voting power. A demand for a poll may be withdrawn at any time by those who made it.
