Compensation for groundless arrest: magistrate may order payment or limited imprisonment if award is not recovered. Compensation is available when a Magistrate finds an arrest lacked sufficient ground; the Magistrate may award compensation to the arrested person for loss of time and expenses and may do so for each person arrested. Such awards are recoverable as if they were fines, and if not recovered, the person liable may be sentenced to simple imprisonment for a limited term unless the sum is sooner paid.
