Superior police powers may be exercised across appointed local areas, allowing senior officers to perform station-in-charge functions. Section 30 authorises police officers superior in rank to a station officer to exercise, throughout the local area to which they are appointed, the same powers that the officer in charge may exercise within the limits of the police station, thereby extending equivalent policing authority to higher-ranking officers across their appointed local jurisdiction.
