Individuals convicted by a High Court in its extraordinary original jurisdiction can appeal to the Supreme Court. Those convicted by a Sessions Judge, Additional Sessions Judge, or any court imposing a sentence of over seven years may appeal to the High Court. Convictions by first or second-class Magistrates, or sentences under sections 364 or 401, can be appealed to the Court of Session. Appeals related to certain sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita must be resolved within six months.
