Excludes Crimes Against Women/Children.</h1> This chapter on plea bargaining applies to accused individuals facing charges for offenses not punishable by death, life imprisonment, or imprisonment exceeding seven years. It is applicable when a police officer forwards a report under section 193 or when a Magistrate takes cognizance of a complaint and issues a process under section 227, provided the offense does not affect the socio-economic condition of the country or involve crimes against women or children. The Central Government will notify which offenses impact the socio-economic condition of the country.
