Receipt of foreign evidence: central government may direct admission of overseas depositions and exhibits when a commission could issue. The Central Government may direct that copies of depositions or exhibits, in physical or electronic form, made before a foreign judicial officer or an Indian diplomatic or consular representative be received as evidence by the Indian court conducting an inquiry or trial, in cases where that court could issue a commission for taking evidence on the matters to which those depositions or exhibits relate.
