          <h1>Service of summons: leaving a duplicate with an adult family member permits substituted service when the person cannot be found.</h1> If a summoned person cannot be found despite exercise of due diligence, the summons may be served by leaving a duplicate with an adult family member residing with the person; that family member may be required to sign a receipt on the back of the other duplicate. A servant is not a member of the family for this purpose.
