Reciprocal service of process enables cross-border transmission and execution of summonses and warrants with prescribed follow-up procedures.
Courts under the Sanhita may send or receive summonses, arrest warrants, production summonses, and search-warrants to or from other Indian States or contracting foreign States via prescribed transmission channels; served summonses invoke section 70 procedures. Receiving courts must serve or execute such process as if from a co-territorial court. Executed arrests and searches are to be processed according to the Sanhita's arrest and search-warrant procedures, and materials produced or seized after execution of process from a contracting State must be forwarded to the issuing authority through Central Government-designated agencies.
