<h1>Magistrate Must Commit Case to Court of Session for Offences Under Sections 230 or 231; 90-180 Day Timeline</h1> When an accused appears before a Magistrate for an offence exclusively triable by the Court of Session, the Magistrate must commit the case to the Court of Session after complying with sections 230 or 231. The accused is to be remanded to custody, subject to bail provisions, until the commitment or trial conclusion. The case record, documents, and evidence must be sent to the Court of Session, and the Public Prosecutor notified. Proceedings must be completed within ninety days, extendable to one hundred and eighty days with written reasons. Applications by the accused or victim are forwarded with the case.
