of <h1>Section 159: Penalties for Non-Compliance on Director Appointments and Qualifications Under Companies Act, 2013 Amended in 2019</h1> Section 159 of the Companies Act, 2013, addresses penalties for non-compliance with sections 152, 155, and 156 concerning the appointment and qualifications of directors. If an individual or director defaults, they may incur a penalty up to fifty thousand rupees. For ongoing defaults, an additional penalty of up to five hundred rupees per day may apply. This provision was amended by the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2019, replacing the previous penalty of imprisonment or fine for contraventions.
