of <h1>Director Appointment Requires DIN Application Under Companies Act, 2013; Amended by 2017 Act</h1> Every individual intending to be appointed as a director of a company must apply for a Director Identification Number (DIN) from the Central Government in the prescribed form, manner, and with the requisite fees as outlined in the Companies Act, 2013. The Central Government may designate an identification number to serve as the DIN, and if an individual possesses such a number, the requirements of this section may not apply or may apply as prescribed. This provision was amended by the Companies (Amendment) Act, 2017, effective from February 9, 2018.
