Company investigations may be initiated for regulator reports, shareholder resolution, public interest, or mandated by proceedings. The Central Government may order an investigation into a company's affairs upon receipt of a Registrar or inspector report, on intimation that a company has passed a special resolution requesting investigation, or in the public interest; where a court or tribunal directs investigation, the Central Government shall order it and may appoint one or more inspectors to investigate and report as directed.
