Central Government's power u/s 210 to order company investigations based on reports, resolutions, or public interest
Section 210 of the Companies Act, 2013 empowers the Central Government to order an investigation into a company's affairs when it considers such investigation necessary. This may be based on a Registrar's or inspector's report under section 208, a company's special resolution seeking investigation, or public interest. Additionally, if a court or Tribunal directs that a company's affairs be investigated, the Central Government is obliged to order such investigation. For this purpose, the Central Government may appoint one or more inspectors, specify the scope and manner of investigation, and require them to report on the company's affairs as directed.
