Company inspections and inquiries: directors must produce documents; non compliance brings imprisonment, fine and disqualification under law. Directors, officers and employees must produce books, records and required statements and assist a Registrar or inspector; the inspector may copy and mark records. The Registrar or inspector has civil court powers for discovery, summoning and examining persons on oath, and inspecting company books at any place. Disobedience attracts imprisonment up to one year and a fine between twenty five thousand and one lakh rupees, and conviction causes vacation of office and disqualification from holding company office.
