Power to require information: companies must furnish records on demand, with inspection and penalties for non compliance. The Central Government may order companies, classes of companies, or individual companies to furnish information or statistics about their constitution or working within specified times, publish such orders in the Official Gazette, and require production or inspection of records to verify correctness. Non compliance or furnishing materially incorrect or incomplete information renders the company and defaulting officers liable to a penalty and a continuing daily penalty subject to a maximum. The provision extends to foreign companies in relation to business carried on in India.
