<h1>Government orders companies to submit operational data and records u/s 405, with fines for non-compliance or false details.</h1> The Central Government may order any company, a class of companies, or all companies to furnish specified information or statistics regarding their constitution or working within a stated time. Such orders must be published in the Official Gazette, and publication is deemed service of the requirement on the companies addressed. To verify accuracy and completeness, the Government may require production of records or documents, permit inspection, or demand further information. Non-compliance with an order, or furnishing materially incorrect or incomplete information, attracts a penalty on the company and defaulting officers of ?20,000, plus ?1,000 per day for continuing failure after the first day, up to ?3,00,000. These provisions apply to foreign companies insofar as they conduct business in India.
