Timely DIN filing under Section 157: companies and officers face escalating daily penalties for late Director ID updates
Section 157 of the Companies Act, 2013 mandates that every company must, within fifteen days of receiving intimation under section 156, furnish the Director Identification Number of all its directors to the Registrar or other specified authority, in the prescribed form, manner and with prescribed fees. Failure to furnish the DIN attracts a penalty of Rs. 25,000 on the company, with an additional Rs. 100 per day for continuing default, capped at Rs. 1,00,000. Each defaulting officer is separately liable to the same slab of penalties, including the daily continuing penalty and overall cap.
