<h1>False Evidence in Company Matters: 3-7 Years Imprisonment and Up to 10 Lakh Fine Under Section 449, Companies Act 2013.</h1> Section 449 of the Companies Act, 2013, addresses the punishment for providing false evidence. It stipulates that any individual who intentionally gives false evidence during an examination on oath or solemn affirmation, or in any affidavit or deposition related to company matters under this Act, including winding up, shall face imprisonment ranging from a minimum of three years to a maximum of seven years. Additionally, the individual may be fined up to ten lakh rupees. This provision applies unless otherwise specified within the Act.
