of <h1>Companies Act, 2013: Section 1 effective immediately; other provisions commence on dates notified by Central Government</h1> The Act is titled the Companies Act, 2013, extends throughout India, and its Section 1 comes into force immediately while other provisions commence on dates notified by the Central Government, which may vary by provision. The Act applies to companies incorporated under current or prior company law and, subject to specified inconsistencies, to insurance companies, banking companies, electricity companies, entities governed by special Acts, and other bodies corporate as notified by the Central Government, with exceptions, modifications or adaptations specified in such notifications.
