Companies appointment and qualification of directors rules establish regulatory framework and supersede prior rules under Companies Act. The Central Government promulgated the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014 under powers conferred by various provisions of the Companies Act, 2013, and thereby superseded the Companies (Central Government's) General Rules and Forms, 1956 and other rules under the Companies Act, 1956 insofar as they relate to the same matters; the rules are given the short title Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014 and are notified to commence as specified in the notification.
