          <h1>Reservation of seats for women ensures a mandated proportion of legislative assembly seats are set aside for female representation.</h1> Seats shall be reserved for women in every State Legislative Assembly. As nearly as may be, one-third of the total number of seats reserved under the scheme for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes shall be reserved for women of those communities. Further, as nearly as may be, one-third of the total number of seats to be filled by direct election in each State Assembly shall be reserved for women, including the seats reserved for women belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
