          <h1>Superintendence of elections vested in Election Commission, defining composition, appointment, tenure protections and staffing access.</h1> The constitution vests superintendence, direction and control of electoral roll preparation and conduct of parliamentary, state and presidential elections in an Election Commission comprising a Chief Election Commissioner and other Commissioners appointed by the President. Regional Commissioners may be appointed after consultation with the Commission to assist in elections. Conditions of service and tenure are set by the President subject to parliamentary law; the Chief Election Commissioner has removal protections akin to a Supreme Court Judge and service conditions cannot be varied to his disadvantage, while other Commissioners require the Chief Election Commissioner's recommendation for removal. The President or Governor must provide staff when requested.
