Member access to cooperative records ensures transparency and participation in society management under state law. Article 243ZO empowers State Legislatures to provide by law for members' access to a co operative society's books, information and accounts relating to transactions with that member, to prescribe minimum requirements for member participation in management (such as meeting attendance and utilisation of services), and to provide for co operative education and training for members.
