          <h1>Urban local government functions enumerate municipal responsibilities covering planning, infrastructure, sanitation, public amenities and social welfare obligations.</h1> The Twelfth Schedule (Article 243W) lists the functional responsibilities of urban local bodies, including urban planning, regulation of land use and building construction, economic and social development planning, infrastructure and service provision (roads, water supply, sanitation, solid waste management, fire services), environmental protection and urban forestry, social welfare measures for weaker sections and slum improvement, provision of urban amenities, vital statistics registration, and regulation of slaughterhouses and related public conveniences.
