Escheat and bona vacantia: ownerless property vests in State or Union according to situs and governmental use. Property that would have accrued to the Crown by escheat, lapse, or as bona vacantia vests according to situs: property situate in a State vests in that State, and otherwise vests in the Union; property already in government possession or control vests in the Union or the State according to the purposes for which it was held or used.
