Reservation of seats for women: mandates reserved constituencies and a specified share for women from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. A new constitutional article mandates reservation of seats for women in the House of the People, requires that a proportion of seats reserved under the existing reserved-seats framework be allocated to women of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, and requires that a proportion of the total seats filled by direct election be reserved for women generally, with the category-specific female reservations included within that overall women's reservation.
