of <h1>New Amendment Reserves One-Third of Seats for Women in India's House of the People, Including SC/ST Quotas.</h1> The Constitution (106th Amendment) Act, 2023 introduces a new Article 330A, which mandates the reservation of seats for women in the House of the People. It specifies that approximately one-third of the seats reserved under Article 330 for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes will be allocated to women. Additionally, one-third of the total seats filled by direct election to the House of the People will also be reserved for women, including those reserved for women from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
