Protection of existing reservation: reserved seats remain unaffected in current Houses until their dissolution after the amendment. The amendment preserves reserved representation in the House of the People, State Legislative Assemblies and the Delhi Legislative Assembly by providing that the constitutional changes effected by the Amendment do not affect any representation in those Houses or Assemblies until the dissolution of the particular House or Assembly in existence at the commencement of the Amendment.
