of <h1>EOU Scheme Allows Duty-Free Imports for Production, Excludes Wind and Solar Power Benefits, with 1.5% Export Promotion Limit</h1> Under the Export Oriented Units (EOU) scheme, units are permitted to import a wide range of goods duty-free, including capital goods, raw materials, and equipment necessary for production and export activities, excluding prohibited items. EOUs can also procure indigenous excisable goods without central excise duty. The scheme supports various sectors like software, electronics, agriculture, aquaculture, granite quarrying, and gem and jewelry manufacturing. Additionally, EOUs can import export promotion materials up to 1.5% of the previous year's export value. However, tax benefits do not extend to wind and solar captive power plants, as specified in recent notifications.
