Consolidating Import Cargo: Steps from IGM Filing to Transshipment Under Goods Imported Regulations
The procedure for consolidating import cargo at gateway ports involves several steps. Upon arrival of LCL cargo for ICDs/CFSs, the shipping line files the IGM with Customs. Cargo is de-stuffed and consolidated under Customs supervision. A tally list with import consignment details is prepared, and sub-IGMs are filed. Once Customs accepts the sub-IGM, cargo is re-stuffed into containers, sealed by the custodian, and transshipped following the Goods Imported Regulations. After Customs formalities at ICDs/CFSs, a sub-IGM copy is sent back to the gateway port for IGM closure.
