<h1>Mandatory Indian Quality Standards require BIS certification for covered imports; non compliant goods are prohibited from import.</h1> Products listed as subject to Mandatory Indian Quality Standards under ITC(HS) Schedule I must meet the specified Indian Standards, and manufacturers/exporters to India are required to obtain a BIS licence to use the Standards mark; when BIS notifies a new Standard it becomes part of Appendix III from its implementation date and imports must conform from that date, with non fulfilment rendering such goods prohibited for import.
