Courier Imports & Exports: Manual & Electronic Clearances Streamlined Under 1998 & 2010 Regulations at Select Customs Points.
Imports and exports via courier are increasingly popular, with clearances allowed under both manual and electronic modes. Manual clearances follow the Courier Imports and Exports (Clearance) Regulations, 1998, while electronic clearances adhere to the Courier Imports and Exports (Electronic Declaration and Processing) Regulations, 2010. Authorized courier companies, registered with Customs, facilitate these processes, ensuring minimal examination and selective document scrutiny. Duties, if applicable, are paid by courier companies. This facility is available at 14 Customs airports and select Land Customs Stations, with electronic clearances operational at nine locations. The process introduces procedural relaxations while adhering to existing laws.
