Recovery of duty from bonded warehouses

Recovery of duty from bonded warehouses requires owners to pay full duty or face detention and sale of goods.

Where warehoused goods are removed unlawfully, remain past the permitted period, or are not duly accounted for under a bond, the proper officer may demand immediate payment of the full duty due with interest, fines and penalties. If the owner fails to pay, the proper officer may, after notice and without prejudice to other remedies, detain and sell sufficient goods in the warehouse to satisfy the demand, notwithstanding any transfer of the goods.
