Supreme Court Reverses Reduction in Target Plus Scheme Entitlement Rates, DGFT to Issue Duty Credit Scrips
The Target Plus Scheme (TPS) was launched on September 1, 2004, for Star Export Houses, offering duty-free credit based on incremental export growth, initially ranging from 5% to 15%. This was reduced to 5% from April 1, 2005. The scheme, which ended on April 1, 2006, allowed imports of inputs, capital goods, and office equipment under actual user conditions. The Supreme Court, on October 27, 2015, overturned the reduction in entitlement rates and exclusion of certain products. Consequently, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) is issuing Target Plus duty credit scrips.
