of <h1>Liability on transfer of establishment makes transferor and transferee jointly liable, transferee liability limited to assets acquired.</h1> Where an employer transfers an establishment in whole or in part by sale, gift, lease, licence or any other manner, both the transferor and the transferee are made jointly and severally liable for liabilities, cess and other amounts due under the Code in respect of periods up to the date of transfer, the transferees liability being limited to the value of assets acquired by the transfer. The provision applies to all modes of transfer and takes effect from the notified commencement date of 21-11-2025.
