Provident Fund, Pension and EDLI schemes may prescribe membership, contributions, investment, nominations, benefits, administration and disbursement rules. Schedule 05 lists matters for schemes under the Code on Social Security, 2020. The Provident Fund Scheme may prescribe membership and exemption criteria; timing, manner and recovery of employer and employee contributions (including contractor arrangements); employer payment for administration; trustee committees and regional offices; account-keeping, investment subject to Central Government directions, budgeting, audit and reporting; withdrawal, deduction and forfeiture conditions; interest fixation; nomination, registers and identity documents; fees, punishable defaults, inspector powers, transfer and valuation of existing funds, permitted life insurance premiia from the fund, and other necessary provisions.
