Employer and employee contributions may be deferred or reduced during a pandemic, endemic, or national disaster. Central Government may, by order and notwithstanding Chapter III or IV, defer or reduce employer and/or employee contributions payable under Chapter III or Chapter IV for establishments to which those Chapters apply, for whole or part of India, in the event of a pandemic, endemic or national disaster, for periods of up to three months at a time.
