State Building Workers Welfare Boards must be constituted, staffed, and tasked with delivering pensions, insurance, medical and other welfare benefits. Every State Government shall, by notification, constitute a State Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board as a body corporate; composition includes a State-nominated chairperson, a Central-nominated member and up to fifteen other members with equal representation of government, employers and workers and at least one woman. The Board shall appoint a Secretary as chief executive and necessary staff; terms, conditions and remuneration for members and staff are prescribed by the State Government. The Board's functions include death and disability benefits, pensions at sixty, group insurance premium payments, educational and medical support, maternity benefits, skill development, transit accommodation, and formulation of welfare schemes in concurrence with the Central Government.
