of <h1>Code on Social Security Section 95 grants competent authorities civil court powers to take evidence and compel witnesses.</h1> Section 95 vests the competent authority with the full powers of a Civil Court under the Code of Civil Procedure for taking evidence on oath, enforcing attendance of witnesses, and compelling production of documents and material objects, and deems the competent authority to be a Civil Court for the purposes of criminal contempt proceedings and proceedings under Chapter XXVI of the Code of Criminal Procedure, thereby enabling use of civil-court procedural mechanisms to secure evidence and enforcement in matters under the Code on Social Security; the provision enters into force as notified.
