Commutation of half-monthly payments allows lump-sum redemption by agreement or application to a competent authority after six months. The right to receive half-monthly payments may be redeemed by payment of a lump sum either by agreement between the parties or, if no agreement and payments have continued not less than six months, on application of either party to the competent authority, the lump sum being the amount agreed or determined by the competent authority.
