Residents Traveling Abroad Can Carry Up to Rs. 25,000 in Indian Currency; Unlimited Foreign Currency Allowed From Dealers
Export of Indian currency is prohibited, but residents traveling abroad may carry up to Rs. 25,000. They can also take unlimited foreign currency if purchased from authorized dealers. Tourists leaving India can carry foreign currency up to the amount they brought in. Non-residents, excluding citizens and travelers from Pakistan and Bangladesh, may carry Indian currency notes up to Rs. 25,000 when exiting through an airport.
