Section 58B: Customs Warehousing License Cancellation Process Outlined, Including Suspension and Goods Handling Procedures
Section 58B of the Customs Act, 1962, allows the Principal Commissioner or Commissioner of Customs to cancel a warehousing license if the licensee violates the Act, rules, or license conditions. Before cancellation, the licensee must be given a chance to be heard. During an inquiry, warehouse operations may be suspended, prohibiting new deposits but allowing existing goods to remain under the Act's provisions. If a license is canceled, goods must be removed within seven days or an extended period, either to another warehouse or cleared for consumption or export, while existing provisions continue to apply.
