Supreme Court Overturns Retrospective Reduction in Target Plus Scheme, Orders Issuance of Duty Credit Scrips
The Target Plus Scheme (TPS) was introduced on September 1, 2004, for Star Export Houses, offering duty-free credit based on incremental export performance, initially ranging from 5% to 15%. This was reduced to 5% from April 1, 2005. The scheme allowed imports of inputs, capital goods, office equipment, and furniture, subject to actual user conditions, and ended on April 1, 2006. A Supreme Court judgment on October 27, 2015, overturned the retrospective reduction and exclusion of certain products, prompting the DGFT to issue Target Plus duty credit scrips.
