Streamlined Export Cargo Consolidation: Steps from Customs Clearance to Gateway Port Shipment
The procedure for consolidating export cargo involves several steps at gateway ports. Initially, LCL cargo is documented, assessed, and examined by Customs at ICD/CFS, then sealed and marked with identification details. After clearance, packages are handed over to custodians with necessary documents. Custodians consolidate and stuff cargo into containers, which are sealed and transported to the gateway port. At the gateway port, Customs oversees the reworking and destination-wise re-stuffing of cargo. Tally sheets are maintained for tracking, and container numbers are recorded on shipping documents. Customs clearance at ICD/CFS is final, and drawbacks are paid immediately post-clearance. Jurisdictional Commissioners may authorize inter-CFS cargo movement to optimize space.
