Import of pet animals as baggage requires health certificates and quarantine examination for residence transfers and re imports. Importation of domestic pets as baggage is permitted for persons transferring residence to India after two years' continuous stay abroad upon production of a health certificate from the country of origin and examination by the Quarantine Officer; re importation is allowed subject to Customs establishment of the pet's identity, production of a health certificate from the country of export and Quarantine Officer examination.
