Customs Overtime Services Require Prior Application; Fees Vary by Change in Broker, Vessel, or Party Involved.
Parties requesting the services of Customs officers on an overtime basis must submit a prior application. Customs will review the application, assess the job requirements, and calculate the overtime fee according to the prescribed rates. A separate fee applies if there is a change in the Customs Broker, vessel, or party involved. Once the fee is paid, officers are assigned to the task. If a Customs Broker manages multiple Bills of Entry/Shipping Bills for the same importer/exporter, or if multiple activities occur within the same block, separate fees are not required. Custodians can request officer services beyond normal hours by paying a merchant overtime fee.
