of <h1>Proposals to establish units in SEZs must be approved by the committee within 15 days under Rule 18, SEZ Rules.</h1> Under Section 15 of the SEZ Act, individuals seeking to establish a unit in a Special Economic Zone must submit a proposal to the Development Commissioner, who forwards it to the Approval Committee. The committee decides within fifteen days to approve, modify, or reject the proposal per Rule 18 of the SEZ Rules. The Letter of Approval is valid for one year, extendable up to two additional years, with further extensions possible if construction is two-thirds complete. If production or service does not commence within the validity period, the approval lapses. The Letter of Approval is valid for five years post-commencement, with possible extensions.
